Is Contribution to the EPF Mandatory?

After 01.09.2014, Employee whose Basic Salary + DA is up to Rs. 15,000/- has to mandatory contribute to Employees’ Provident Fund! For those whose basic salary is more than Rs. 15,000/- they may voluntarily contribute to EPF however it is not compulsory but it is recommended for everyone to contribute to EPF.

When I change my job what I should do?

If you join another employer after leaving previous one; your EPF Balance can be transferred from one employer to another. Your previous funds will also get transferred to your new employer. In case you leave your job and do not intend to join another job for next six months then you can withdraw your Provident Fund but you have to submit a declaration that you are not going to join any job for next six months.

What is rate of interest on EPF Account currently?

Every year Central Government revises Interest rate on EPF India according to revenues generated by EPFO in previous financial year. For Financial year 2012-13 Rate of Interest on EPF is 8.50 %.

How I can check my EPF Account Online?

The beneficiaries who are currently contributing to EPF can check their EPF Balance Online Here!

When I can withdraw money from EPF Account without Leaving the Service?

You can withdraw money or an Advance Loan from your EPF account for some very important reasons like Marriage of yourself and children, Education of your children, purchase/construction of house and medical emergencies. You should keep in mind the following points when you are going to withdraw money from EPF account.

1. You can withdraw maximum 50 % of your contribution to EPF account.
2. You can withdraw only 3 times during you hold your EPF account.
3. You should have completed minimum seven years of service at the time of withdrawal. (In case of medical emergency no minimum service period is required. Although maximum amount you can withdraw is 6 times of your basic salary. However you have to provide hospitalization bill for proof.)
4. You can withdraw funds for purchase/construction of house only once in your lifetime. The minimum period of service is 5 years. Maximum amount you can withdraw is 24 times of your basic salary for purchase and 36 times of your basic salary for construction of house.

What if I want to contribute more than 12% of basic salary?

You can contribute as much you can but this contribution is called voluntary contribution. However the employer is not bound to contribute same percentage. Moreover same rules regarding interest rate, transfer, withdrawal etc. apply to this extra fund.

What is the use of my EPF contribution and what is its break-up?

Your EPF contribution is deposited into three schemes according to EPF & MP Act 1952.

  1. 1. Employee’s provident Fund (EPF 1952)
  2. 2. Employee’s Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLIS 1976)
  3. 3. Employee’s Pension Scheme (EPS 1995)

What is difference between EPF and PPF? Which one is better?

Both PPF (Public Provident Fund) and EPF (Employee Provident Fund) are government approved long term investment plans. Most of people have confusion between two. The main difference between EPF and PPF is that EPF is a mandatory contribution by employees while PPF is a statutory deposit scheme of central government. PPF provide retirement security to other sectors like self-employed person or businessman, Whereas EPF is available for salaried employees.

    Hi,

    I had ressigned my job in 2011 and now I am claiming my EPS. I am not working after 2011.
    Since I had ressigned long back employer did not gave me the UAN number.

    I had submitted my EPS claim form through my ex-employer. It got returned back saying ” PF no is wrong”. I could not raise the greivance and also get status of it as I did not have the UAN number.

    Ex-employer says they can provide the UAN number who is in service after 2014.

    Can someone tell me how to get the UAN number?

        I had resigned my job in 2019 and i haven’t get my uan number. I’m also visit EPFO site to check my uan number with using my mobile number, Adhar Card as well as pan card. but didn’t get it.

    Hello,

    My claim for PF withdrawal is rejected as per the online status. It says father’s name differs between the PAN card and the records.

    Do you have any idea what “record” they are talking about ?

    Status : Claim Form 19 for PF Settlement AGAINST Member Account No (TNMAS00313090000011975) has been rejected. Rejection letter is under dispatch/ dispatched to address in your claim form.

    Hi. My previous organisation had a Private Trust to manage PF. I left my previous org in Jan 2013 & did not transfer my PF. Presently its being treated as a dormant account by my previous employers PF Trust and they are denying interest from Jan-2016. While i will get my PF balance transferred – how can i claim the interest from Jan-2016 till date. The PF Central Board of Trustees has also allowed interest on dormant accounts from April 2016. Can the Private trust deny me interest – particularly since they have earned a handsome interest?

      My Employer had deducted my PF Contribution from Dec’15 till my exit in July’16 .They did not provide UAN Number and did not settle me fully and finally.for which The CEO OR HR Mangaer had not replied my calls. I have resigned the job and that has been accepted by the company and also assured to settle my accounts by email. Whom should I complain? I cannot file a complaint to EPFO without UAN Number. Please help me.

      You have to transfer from old account to new account and than withdraw. Submit Form-13 for transfer..

          Through OTC Form 13 only I did AC transfer.
          I have checked the status of AC transfer in my login in PF Portal, it shows as “Your claim has been settled and credited to new account”.
          But showing only the new AC balance in online.

          Pls check and revert back.

                      I’m totally disappoint about the process and the errors of the same.

                      Mismatch can also happen if you have wrong PF Acc number or it can be typo error from employer. After getting UAN Registered you can get updated balance..

      Easy process is to Submit relevant Claim Forms duly attested by your ex-employer with INdian Bank Account details.. Otherwise on same forms give US Bank details with an application giving your reason of moving to States and copy of supporting documents..

    Hello Sir / Madam,

    Sub: PF Claim is settled but amount is not received in bank account

    My PF claim (Form 19 and Form 10C) was settled on 12.04.2016 and claim status was showing the amount is transferred through NEFT. However, till today the amount was not received in my bank account.

    I have raised grievance to find the status of claim and the same was closed mentioning the amount was remitted – SRNOI/E/2016/01906

    I have raised a new grievance on 9/9/2016 to check the payment details – SRNOI/E/2016/02001 (awaiting for their response)

    My PF account No is : MR-NOI-0049102-000-0000057 and UAN: 100320056023

    Please help me to receive the funds from EPFO office.

      You have to visit concerned PF Office and check if amount is credited back to EPFO and if yes than you have to submit Form ASR..

        Hi, Thank you for the reply. I have been provided with the cheque numbers. I had raised a new grievance under the category of cheque returned / misplaced with the details of cehque numbers.

        By any chance, the response to this grievance will provide amount is received by EPF office or not?

        Submission of ASR to EPF office need to be done by person or is there any mode? Since I am based out of Hyderabad, I wanted to plan the travel.

              Hello,

              My claim is processed and the amount was located.

              My query was, My claim ID – MRNOI16040000135 for form -19, an amount of 8,98,369 was settled by EPF. However, I had received only Rs. 8,08,532/- in my bank account.

              There is a short fall of 10% of the amount settled i.e; Rs.89,836/-

              Can you explain the reason for deduction and how the same can be claimed?

    I applied form 13 for my epf amount transfer from TCS (maintaining it’ own trust for PF).

    my previous account num – MHBAN00484750000184470
    new account number – MPIND00170450000004486

    I got various messages regarding my epf transfer.

    first message on 15th March, 2016. “form 13 received on 7th march, 2016. and claim – MHBAN160300017879 is under process.”

    on 17th March, 2016 – I got second message – “form 13 claim id – MHBAN160350001860 has been rejected. rejection letter in under dispatch.”
    ( in the OTCP portal also it’s showing same).

    on 17th Mar, I got another message. “Claim form 13 for transfer account MHBAN00484750000184470 received on 10th Mar and ClaimId MHBAN160350001860 is under process.

    on 23rd March, I got 4th message – form 13(Transfer) claim id – MHBAN160300017879 approved for payment through Cheque. Pmt under process.

    I am really confused, why 2 different claimId are there fro me and one is rejected, another is payment is under process.

    could you please give me the detail. and what is my status actually.

    my name is govind my mother dagdubai suresh dahiphale has get pension from bandra office since last year but as we move to pune from mumbai we didnt recieved pension document on address and now suddenly pension has been stopped due to non submission of life certificate that now in march month pension document i have courier to bandra office with life certificate , but over cal i have taken PPO no. that is 87516 is this correct ppo no. she have SBI account in parel brach with account number 34497055531, i have trasnfered the bank account from parel branch to alandi pune branch in this branch pension will transfered or not. and i have courier the document over courier pension will start or have to visit bandra office. and where should i get pension document and from whom, pls reply awaiting for your reply

      Submit relevant Claim Forms duly attested by your ex-employer. No need for attestation if you have your UAN activated and linked to Bank Account & Aadhaar Card.
